Printing
Disc Printing
Silkscreen printing is used to print solid (pantone) colours on disc, where the artwork is generated by a vector based application ie. Illustrator, Freehand or Coral Draw
Offset printing is used to print CMYK when the artwork was generated in a pixel based application ie. Photoshop, where photo images and/or gradient colours are present in the design.
Special printing on disc
Matt or Gloss: At Hybrid Media you can specify a gloss or matt finish to the printed disc surface to better finish of your disc print and enhance the detail of your design at no extra charge. This is a extra ‘colour layer’ that we add after the artwork is printed, if the design allows.
Metalic Spot Colouring: When silkscreen printing is used for you disc print, we can substitute a normal pantone colour for a metallic spot colour of your choice. Metallic inks, which are similar to standard printing inks, provide a subdued metallic appearance.
Paper Printing
Litho Printing
Printing of paper parts & packaging
Hybrid Media offers a professional litho printing solution for all paper parts: booklets, inlays, Sleeves, Wallets and digipacks.
Litho printing advantages:
1) Consistent high image quality. Litho printing produces sharp and clean images.
2) Quick and easy production of printing plates.
3) The more you print, the less you pay per page, because most of the price goes into the preparation undergone before the first sheet of paper is printed and ready for distribution. Any additional paper print will only cost the client paper price (and ink), which is very minimal.
Specialized Finishes
Aqueous Coating
an aqueous coating is a fast-drying, water-based, protective coating which is applied in-line on press which is more economical priced than varnish. This clear coating provides a high gloss surface which protects the surface from dirt, smudges, fingerprints and scratches.
ALL of our printing at Hybrid Media is finished off with a aqueous coating as standard.
(Aqueous coating is more environmentally friendly than UV coating because it is water based. It has better hold-out than varnish (it does not seep into the press sheet) and does not crack or scuff easily.)
Spot UV Varnish
UV Varnish is essentially ink without pigment, is run as an additional pass through the press after the initial ink coating has dried and creates a spot Gloss effect. From a design perspective, Spot UV Varnish is used to create a strong contrast between certain sections of design/artwork. This contrast can give emphasis to certain areas and give the impression of depth.
Matt or Gloss lamination
Lamination is a printing finish process (after printing). The printed sheet has a roll of lamination
film applied to it under heat and high pressure.
Matt Lamination gives a subtle, tactile, effect that oozes quality. {pic of matt lamination}
Gloss Lamination is more high profile adding a high gloss sheen. It is definitely the high impact option.
Embossment
Embossing is a process that applies pressure to the backside of a material to alter the surface, giving it a three dimensional or raised effect.
Metallic Spot Printing
Metallic inks, which are similar to standard printing inks, provide a subdued metallic appearance. The natural tendency of the ink to be absorbed into the stock contributes to a duller looking effect.
Foiling
When a print project needs an elegant, non-tarnishing metallic finish to be applied to paper or cardboard, it's easily accomplished using foiling. The reproduction of graphics such as logos, polished metal, or highlighted spot areas requiring a high quality reflective image can be effectively achieved by using foil films.
A wide selection of foil colours, finishes, and effects are available such as gold, silver, and coloured metallics.
Di-Cutting
Die cutting involves the use of metal dies to cut irregular shapes giving paper or cardboard products specific custom shapes or designs.
